I've been using this project as an excuse to learn Fusion 360, so now that I've gotten aquainted with a few practice parts, I have started with the CAD.
I'm starting with the approach of getting the drive and motor mount sections done first, so I can have a mostly functioning robot to debug code with. Later on, once I get the software working better, I'll work on the decorative portions of the robot.
Most of the mechanical design is from Matt Denton on youtube, but all of my files are modeled from scratch. The main design changes that I've been making are to accomodate my slightly smaller 3D printer bed.
